The contrast between the dark, saturated purple fluorite and the warm, fibrous barite crystals gives the piece good colour and textural contrast in a compact size.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp dir=\"ltr\"\u003eThis piece comes from the Pays Plat Occurrence along Highway 17 near Rossport, Ontario. It's a locality within a composite vein hosted in Archean-age pink biotite granite of the Wawa-Abitibi Terrane. The vein itself, roughly 1 to 1.5 metres wide, is notably vuggy, with cavities up to 30 cm across, and shows a distinct internal zonation: a brecciated core surrounded by quartz and amethyst, grading outward to barite and purple fluorite near the vein walls.
