Blue "Sugar" fluorite with druzy quartz, Fujian, China
Description
A softly luminous "sugar" fluorite from Fujian, China, mounted on a custom stand. Rounded masses of pale seafoam fluorite crowd across a low, wide plate, and every surface is blanketed in a fine white quartz druze so even and granular it looks dusted in caster sugar. The coating catches light as thousands of individual sparkles while the green underneath glows through in soft patches, cool sage in the hollows, frost-white along the raised edges. Up close the texture is extraordinary: each tiny quartz crystal is a distinct point, and the whole surface reads somewhere between snow, sea glass, and confectionery.
Fujian Province is best known for its fluorites, and the sugared specimens come from the Xia Yang area in Yongchun County, where two separate mineral events are recorded in a single piece. The fluorite crystallized first, growing as cubes and octahedra in open cavities. A later silica-rich pulse then moved through and blanketed the finished crystals in microcrystalline quartz, preserving their form beneath while replacing their glassy faces with this frosted crust. The green you see is the original fluorite showing through a translucent shell.
Fluorite is known as a stone of focus and mental order, associated with clearing confusion and organising scattered thinking. The green tones connect it to emotional balance and renewal, while the quartz coating is regarded as an amplifier in its own right. A quiet, cooling presence, well suited to a desk or a room meant for concentration.
