This is a beautiful tricolor fluorite cube showing classic Minerva‑style zoning with vivid purple, golden yellow, and blue tones that shift under light. The cube has excellent clarity with sharp faces and internal glow, along with the petroleum inclusions commonly seen in Hardin County fluorite, adding extra sparkle and depth when illuminated.
This piece comes from the Cave‑in‑Rock mining district, the heart of the historic Illinois-Kentucky fluorspar district and home of the Illinois state mineral. The Minerva mines in particular are known for producing some of the most collected fluorite in North America, before commercial mining in the district wound down in the 1990s. A standout Midwest specimen with strong colour, great transparency, and the unmistakable look of Minerva‑area material.
Fluorite is often associated with mental clarity and focus, while chalcopyrite is linked to abundance and calcite to amplified energy — a fitting combination in a piece defined by its layered colour and clarity.
