Hematite Quartz with Specularite Roses - Huanggang Mine, Inner Mongolia
Description
A delicate hematite quartz cluster with specularite roses from the celebrated Huanggang Mine in Inner Mongolia, China. Slender, glassy quartz points interlace in every direction, many blushed a warm salmon-pink by fine traces of hematite, the colour deepening toward the terminations. Nestled among them sit dark, velvety rosettes of specularite, a lustrous variety of hematite whose fine metallic blades gather into perfect "iron roses." The contrast is exceptional: soft pink and icy white crystal against near-black metallic blooms, all in a light, airy structure that reads like frost.
The Huanggang deposit is a complex skarn system that has produced some of the most diverse mineral combinations of any modern locality. Here, generations of quartz grew in interlocking needle sprays as hydrothermal fluids pulsed through the rock. Iron expressed itself two ways in the same pocket: as a fine pink tint within the quartz, and as separate layered rosettes of specularite. Iron roses this well-formed on quartz are a signature of Huanggang and a favourite among collectors.
Quartz is associated with clarity, amplification, and balance, while hematite brings grounding, protection, and steady focus. The pairing suits spaces meant to feel serene but anchored, and the pink tone adds a gentle, heart-warming quality.

Note
All crystals and ceramic works offered by Atelier Lithic are inherently unique. Variations in size, colour, surface texture, and form are natural and should be expected.
Crystals are natural materials formed in the earth and may include surface irregularities such as natural fissures, internal veils, growth marks, contact points from where the crystal was attached to the host rock, or areas where the specimen was mined or extracted. These features are part of the crystal’s natural formation and are not considered defects. Defects are disclosed within the item description.
For crystals:
- When a listing includes numbered options (for example, 001, 002, etc.), each number corresponds to a specific crystal shown in the photos. Selecting a number means you will receive that exact crystal.
- When a crystal is shown as a group or range and sold as a quantity of one without numbered options, the images represent examples of what is available. You will receive one crystal, selected from the group, with natural variation.
For ceramics:
- All ceramic pieces are one of a kind. Unless otherwise stated, you will receive the exact piece shown in the listing photos.
