Description

A dramatic petal calcite with pyrite and fluorite from Hunan, China, mounted on a custom stand. Thin, translucent blades of calcite fan outward like the petals of an enormous stone flower, each one edged in frost-white and layered into overlapping rosettes. A fine dusting of brassy pyrite clings to the blades in glittering patches, as if the whole bloom had been brushed with gold, while touches of fluorite and warm ochre mineralization tuck between the petals. Every angle catches light differently. Soft translucence one moment, metallic sparkle the next.

This combination comes from the mineral-rich Chenzhou region of Hunan Province, home to famed deposits like Yaogangxian, where hot metal-bearing fluids moved through fractured rock in repeated pulses. The calcite grew first as clusters of thin, bladed crystals; a later pyrite-rich pulse then coated them in microcrystals, and fluorite crystallized alongside from the same fluids. Specimens where the pyrite dusts the calcite blades this completely come from limited finds and are increasingly sought after by collectors. Pieces of this size and coverage don't appear often.

Calcite is known as an amplifier and cleanser of energy, associated with clarity and emotional renewal. Pyrite brings abundance, confidence, and protection, and fluorite adds focus and calm; a trio well suited to a workspace or a collection centerpiece.

You will receive the exact specimen and stand photographed.

Note

All crystals and ceramic works offered by Atelier Lithic are inherently unique. Variations in size, colour, surface texture, and form are natural and should be expected.

Crystals are natural materials formed in the earth and may include surface irregularities such as natural fissures, internal veils, growth marks, contact points from where the crystal was attached to the host rock, or areas where the specimen was mined or extracted. These features are part of the crystal’s natural formation and are not considered defects. Defects are disclosed within the item description.

For crystals:

  • When a listing includes numbered options (for example, 001, 002, etc.), each number corresponds to a specific crystal shown in the photos. Selecting a number means you will receive that exact crystal.
  • When a crystal is shown as a group or range and sold as a quantity of one without numbered options, the images represent examples of what is available. You will receive one crystal, selected from the group, with natural variation.

For ceramics:

  • All ceramic pieces are one of a kind. Unless otherwise stated, you will receive the exact piece shown in the listing photos.
