Petroleum Included Garden Quartz Sphere, Brazil
Description
A remarkable petroleum-included garden quartz sphere from Brazil that holds an entire landscape inside: a hazy green-grey orb of chlorite hangs like a sun over rugged ridges of deep red-brown iron minerals, with drifts of cream, gold, and rose filling the valley between. Wisps of golden rutile and misty veils give the scene atmosphere, and the polished sphere acts as a lens, shifting the view with every turn. Then the hidden feature — under UV light, the trapped petroleum inclusions glow an electric blue, transforming the piece entirely.
Garden quartz, or lodolite, forms in Brazil's hydrothermal veins when minerals like chlorite, feldspar, and iron oxides settle on a growing quartz crystal and are then sealed inside by later growth, preserving each layer as a suspended scene. Petroleum quartz adds another chapter: droplets of natural crude oil and hydrocarbons became trapped in tiny cavities as the crystal formed, and it's these fluids that fluoresce vivid blue under longwave UV. Finding both in one sphere: a scenic garden and glowing petroleum makes this an unusual crossover piece for collectors.
Garden quartz is known as a stone of meditation and inner journeying, its miniature worlds used as a focus for visualization and manifestation. The petroleum inclusions add associations with transformation and hidden light. What looks earthbound by day glows by night.

Note
All crystals and ceramic works offered by Atelier Lithic are inherently unique. Variations in size, colour, surface texture, and form are natural and should be expected.
Crystals are natural materials formed in the earth and may include surface irregularities such as natural fissures, internal veils, growth marks, contact points from where the crystal was attached to the host rock, or areas where the specimen was mined or extracted. These features are part of the crystal’s natural formation and are not considered defects. Defects are disclosed within the item description.
For crystals:
- When a listing includes numbered options (for example, 001, 002, etc.), each number corresponds to a specific crystal shown in the photos. Selecting a number means you will receive that exact crystal.
- When a crystal is shown as a group or range and sold as a quantity of one without numbered options, the images represent examples of what is available. You will receive one crystal, selected from the group, with natural variation.
For ceramics:
- All ceramic pieces are one of a kind. Unless otherwise stated, you will receive the exact piece shown in the listing photos.
