Description

A captivating phantom amethyst sphere from Brazil, polished to reveal ghostly crystal outlines suspended within the stone. Layers of violet shift from smoky lilac to deep purple, and within them, the silhouettes of earlier crystal points — the "phantoms" — rise like mountains frozen inside the sphere. Each viewing angle reveals a different internal landscape, with bands and veils marking chapter after chapter of the crystal's growth. Phantoms this defined turn a sphere into something closer to a scene than a stone.

A phantom forms when a crystal's growth is interrupted: a fine layer of mineral dust settles on the faces of the young crystal, and when growth resumes, that outline is sealed inside. The ghost shapes here are records of pauses, sometimes thousands of years apart, preserved as amethyst continued crystallizing around them. The purple colour comes from trace iron activated by natural irradiation deep in the earth, and Brazil's vast amethyst deposits in Rio Grande do Sul have long been the world's most prolific source.

Amethyst is associated with calm, intuition, and spiritual protection, linked to the crown and third-eye chakras. Phantom crystals add a theme of growth through pause and renewal — a favourite for meditation and for anyone drawn to the idea that progress includes its interruptions.

You will receive the exact sphere photographed.

Note

All crystals and ceramic works offered by Atelier Lithic are inherently unique. Variations in size, colour, surface texture, and form are natural and should be expected.

Crystals are natural materials formed in the earth and may include surface irregularities such as natural fissures, internal veils, growth marks, contact points from where the crystal was attached to the host rock, or areas where the specimen was mined or extracted. These features are part of the crystal’s natural formation and are not considered defects. Defects are disclosed within the item description.

For crystals:

  • When a listing includes numbered options (for example, 001, 002, etc.), each number corresponds to a specific crystal shown in the photos. Selecting a number means you will receive that exact crystal.
  • When a crystal is shown as a group or range and sold as a quantity of one without numbered options, the images represent examples of what is available. You will receive one crystal, selected from the group, with natural variation.

For ceramics:

  • All ceramic pieces are one of a kind. Unless otherwise stated, you will receive the exact piece shown in the listing photos.
