Description
A striking rainbow fluorite slab, deep purple zoning layered through translucent, near-colourless bands, with a small patch of ochre-toned matrix breaking through on one face. The piece is finished half-and-half — one side polished to a smooth, glassy face that shows the internal colour banding in full clarity, the other left in its natural raw state, giving the slab a strong contrast between refined and untouched texture. Mounted upright, it reads as a striking display piece from either angle.
Rainbow fluorite of this depth and banding is sourced from Hunan Province, China, one of the world's major fluorite-producing regions and the source of the large, richly zoned purple-to-clear material typically cut into slabs and display pieces like this one.
Fluorite is traditionally associated with mental clarity and focus, and the rainbow banding in particular is thought to extend that clarity across the emotional and spiritual body; a stone associated with balance across the whole self rather than one single property.
