Description
A substantial calcite formation defined by layered, scale-like crystal growth and warm red to grey tonal variation. The surface is composed of tightly stacked, rounded crystal faces that create a distinctive texture across the piece, giving it depth and a sense of movement. Variations in colour, from soft grey to iron-rich red—highlight natural shifts during formation.
Elevated on a custom stand, the piece reads as a grounded, sculptural object with strong visual weight and texture.
This specimen comes from Fengjiashan Mine, a locality known for producing calcite with pronounced layered growth and distinctive surface texture. These formations develop through successive mineral deposition, where crystals build in overlapping layers, resulting in the characteristic “scaled” structure seen here.
Calcite is often associated with clarity and energy flow, and is said to support focus while maintaining balance.
