Description

A sculptural crystallized calcite from the Wenshan Mine in Yunnan, China. A frosty white stalactitic calcite curls up and over a sugary golden-tan druzy plate like a plume of frozen smoke, its serpentine form completely coated in fine sparkling crystals. The base plate is textured with soft botryoidal mounds of caramel-coloured calcite, every surface glittering under light. It displays beautifully from every angle. The arching white ribbon against the warm druzy field gives it the presence of a natural sculpture.

The Wenshan zinc mine is celebrated among collectors for its blue hemimorphite, aragonite, and above all its otherworldly cave calcite formations. Pieces like this grew in open cavities where mineral-rich water dripped and flowed over long spans of time: the curving stalactitic form records the path of trickling water, later overgrown by generations of tiny calcite crystals that frosted it in sparkle, while the same fluids built the mounded druzy carpet beneath. Each formation is a one-time event; no two grow alike.

Calcite is known as a powerful amplifier and cleanser, associated with clearing stagnant energy and inviting calm, renewed focus. Golden and white calcite together are linked to warmth, optimism, and gentle emotional reset.

Note

All crystals and ceramic works offered by Atelier Lithic are inherently unique. Variations in size, colour, surface texture, and form are natural and should be expected.

Crystals are natural materials formed in the earth and may include surface irregularities such as natural fissures, internal veils, growth marks, contact points from where the crystal was attached to the host rock, or areas where the specimen was mined or extracted. These features are part of the crystal’s natural formation and are not considered defects. Defects are disclosed within the item description.

For crystals:

  • When a listing includes numbered options (for example, 001, 002, etc.), each number corresponds to a specific crystal shown in the photos. Selecting a number means you will receive that exact crystal.
  • When a crystal is shown as a group or range and sold as a quantity of one without numbered options, the images represent examples of what is available. You will receive one crystal, selected from the group, with natural variation.

For ceramics:

  • All ceramic pieces are one of a kind. Unless otherwise stated, you will receive the exact piece shown in the listing photos.
