Description
A sculptural cluster of pale ivory calcite blades intergrown with darker matrix, creating a dramatic “sandwich” formation. The calcite plates are thick and architectural, with soft translucency along the edges and subtle internal veils that catch the light. The contrast between the creamy calcite and the charcoal-toned host rock, that has sparkles of pyrite, gives this piece a bold, modern presence.
“Sandwich calcite” refers to calcite that forms in layered growth patterns, often developing as flat, tabular crystals that appear stacked or interleaved with matrix material. These formations typically occur in hydrothermal vein systems where mineral-rich fluids deposit calcite in open spaces within host rock. The result is this striking combination of clean crystal faces and rugged geological backdrop.
Calcite is often associated with clarity and perspective. It is believed to support focus, amplify intention, and bring steadiness to decision-making.
