XL Grape Agate Sphere
Description
This rare grape agate sphere features large naturally formed botryoidal clusters in soft lavender to deep violet tones, preserved within a polished spherical form. The surface reveals layers of rounded “grape-like” formations that developed over millions of years as silica-rich fluids slowly crystallized in cavities within volcanic rock. Polishing the sphere exposes these delicate structures while keeping much of the natural texture intact, creating depth and contrast from every angle.
Grape agate is a trade name for botryoidal purple chalcedony and quartz, found almost exclusively in the Mamuju area of West Sulawesi, Indonesia. High-quality material like this is increasingly rare due to limited mining access, labor-intensive extraction, and the difficulty of finding specimens with dense, well-formed botryoidal growth. Large pieces that can be shaped into spheres without losing structural integrity are especially uncommon, which is why substantial grape agate forms command higher prices.
Grape agate is often associated with emotional balance, intuition, and calming mental overstimulation. Many people work with it as a grounding stone that still supports creativity and inner awareness, making it a favourite for spaces intended for rest, reflection, or quiet focus.

Note
All crystals and ceramic works offered by Atelier Lithic are inherently unique. Variations in size, colour, surface texture, and form are natural and should be expected.
Crystals are natural materials formed in the earth and may include surface irregularities such as natural fissures, internal veils, growth marks, contact points from where the crystal was attached to the host rock, or areas where the specimen was mined or extracted. These features are part of the crystal’s natural formation and are not considered defects. Defects are disclosed within the item description.
For crystals:
- When a listing includes numbered options (for example, 001, 002, etc.), each number corresponds to a specific crystal shown in the photos. Selecting a number means you will receive that exact crystal.
- When a crystal is shown as a group or range and sold as a quantity of one without numbered options, the images represent examples of what is available. You will receive one crystal, selected from the group, with natural variation.
For ceramics:
- All ceramic pieces are one of a kind. Unless otherwise stated, you will receive the exact piece shown in the listing photos.
