Description
A pale lavender-purple fluorite matrix, its cubic faces visible throughout, host to dramatic sprays of golden-tan bladed barite radiating outward in sheaf-like, bowtie-shaped clusters across the specimen's crown. Fine dark speckling, goethite pseudomorphs after pyrite, is scattered through the barite blades, small angular remnants marking where pyrite crystals once stood before being fully replaced. The combination of soft violet fluorite, warm golden barite, and dark pseudomorph flecks gives the piece real textural and colour variety in a single specimen.
This UK fluorite soecime comes from Coldstones Quarry, Greenhow, in the Pateley Bridge district of North Yorkshire, England, part of the historic North Pennine Orefield. Pseudomorphs, one mineral replacing another while preserving its original crystal shape, are a genuine point of interest for collectors, since they record a second, later chapter in the specimen's geological history rather than a single moment of growth.
