Description
This is a substantial statement piece, showing green feather calcite's distinctive fine, comb-like bladed texture, dense rows of slender crystal blades stacked in a soft, feathery pattern across a pale sage-green surface. Clustered along one side, bright white petal calcite forms broad, flat, translucent plates that fan outward like layered petals, creating striking contrast against the textured green feather calcite beneath. The combination of the two habits on one specimen; fine and feathery against broad and flowery. It gives the piece real sculptural presence and a lot to look at from every angle.
Feather and petal calcite in this pale green-and-white combination are associated with the mining districts of Inner Mongolia, China, with the Huanggang (Huanggangliang) Mine among the best-known sources for this material and its distinctive textured growth habits.
Metaphysically, calcite is associated with amplifying and cleansing energy, traditionally regarded as a stone that supports emotional balance and clears stagnant patterns.
