Description
Three polished black obsidian free forms, each carved with sharp planes and finished to a high gloss. The surfaces are mirror-like, reflecting light across deep, uniform black. The angular cuts give each piece a quiet architectural presence, making them strong sculptural accents in minimalist or modern spaces.
Obsidian is volcanic glass formed when silica-rich lava cools rapidly, preventing crystal growth. This rapid cooling creates its dense, smooth texture and characteristic glassy finish. High-quality carving material is most commonly sourced from Mexico, where volcanic activity has produced extensive deposits of uniform black obsidian.
Traditionally associated with grounding and protection, obsidian is valued for both its structural strength and its visual simplicity.
