Description
This polished slab shows beautifully concentric, fortification-style agate banding in soft greys and creams, with striking pink-to-rust plume-like inclusions breaking through the bands in several places. Small druzy pockets are scattered throughout, adding sparkle and texture against the smooth, wave-like banding. The overall effect is almost landscape-like, with the swirling grey bands reading like contour lines around the warmer pink and rust accents.
Bay of Fundy agates form within the amygdaloidal cavities of the North Mountain Basalt, an Early Jurassic flood basalt tied to the Central Atlantic Magmatic Province. As the lava cooled, trapped gas bubbles left behind cavities that were slowly filled by silica-rich fluids, crystallizing in bands over time into the fortification patterns and druzy pockets seen here. The Bay of Fundy shoreline is one of Nova Scotia's most celebrated agate-collecting regions, prized for both the geological story and the striking colour variation the basalt produces.
Metaphysically, agate is associated with grounding and balance, traditionally regarded as a stabilizing stone that supports emotional strength and inner calm. Pink agate specifically is often linked to gentle emotional healing and self-love, echoing the softer, heart-centred associations common to pink stones.
