These specimens pairs sharp, cuboctahedral galena crystals with a dense druzy overgrowth of brassy pyrite cubes, the contrast reading almost like a solar eclipse; a dark, metallic core crowned in gold. Threading through the boundary between the two sulphides are fine, needle-like sprays of quartz, adding a delicate textural counterpoint to the otherwise bold crystallisation. The piece stands upright on its own and shows strong lustre and crystal definition from multiple angles.

It comes from the Madan ore field in Bulgaria's Central Rhodope Mountains, one of Europe's most prolific lead-zinc vein districts and long prized among collectors for exactly this combination of minerals. Madan specimens are typically labeled to their specific source mine, and the habit seen here, cuboctahedral galena with a druzy pyrite overgrowth and fine quartz needles at the contact zone, is most consistent with material from the Krushev Dol Mine.

Metaphysically, pyrite is traditionally regarded as a stone of protection and abundance, believed to shield against negative energy while encouraging willpower and confidence.
