Description
A bold, architectural cluster of thick tabular calcite plates intergrown with dark matrix and accented by pale green fluorite. The calcite forms broad, stacked blades with soft translucency along the edges, revealing faint internal veils and subtle surface texture. Beneath the main plate, the green fluorite adds depth and contrast, creating a layered composition that feels both graphic and sculptural.
This style of “sandwich” calcite forms in hydrothermal vein systems, where mineral-rich fluids deposit calcite in open spaces within host rock. The distinctive stacked, tabular growth gives the appearance of layered stone slabs intersecting at sharp angles. The association with fluorite suggests formation in a complex mineral environment, likely within a polymetallic vein system.
