Description
This tall wheel-thrown stoneware vase features flowing sgraffito lines that ripple across the surface like moving ocean waves. The carved lines rise and fall in layered bands around the vessel, creating a sense of motion and depth that echoes the shifting surface of water. Between the waves, small sea creatures peek through, their tiny faces emerging from the currents as if briefly surfacing to look at the sky.
The deep blue glaze forms a rich ocean backdrop, while lighter carved lines reveal the movement of the waves beneath the surface. Subtle variations in tone and glaze pooling enhance the sense of water in motion, giving the vase a dynamic yet calming presence.
