Description

A sculptural sugar quartz cluster with feather calcite from the renowned Huanggang Mine in Inner Mongolia, China. The quartz is coated in a fine druzy "sugar" of tiny sparkling crystals, washed with a distinctive maroon tint — a natural hematite dusting characteristic of this locality — while delicate, feather-like calcite blades add contrast and movement. Mounted on a custom acrylic stand with a metal claw, it presents as a finished object: part mineral specimen, part sculpture, ready to display.

The Huanggang Mine is a complex skarn deposit where mineral-rich fluids moving through carbonate rock produced some of the most intricate, multi-generational crystal formations of any modern locality. Here, a later generation of micro-quartz crystallized over the main cluster, creating the sugary texture, while iron-rich fluids stained the surface maroon and calcite grew in thin, plumose blades. Huanggang has been one of the most celebrated Chinese localities of the past two decades, prized for exactly this kind of layered complexity.

Quartz is associated with clarity, amplification, and balance, while calcite is linked to calm and emotional renewal. Together they make a piece suited to spaces meant to feel clear, energized, and creatively open.

You will receive the exact specimen and stand photographed.

Note

All crystals and ceramic works offered by Atelier Lithic are inherently unique. Variations in size, colour, surface texture, and form are natural and should be expected.

Crystals are natural materials formed in the earth and may include surface irregularities such as natural fissures, internal veils, growth marks, contact points from where the crystal was attached to the host rock, or areas where the specimen was mined or extracted. These features are part of the crystal’s natural formation and are not considered defects. Defects are disclosed within the item description.

For crystals:

  • When a listing includes numbered options (for example, 001, 002, etc.), each number corresponds to a specific crystal shown in the photos. Selecting a number means you will receive that exact crystal.
  • When a crystal is shown as a group or range and sold as a quantity of one without numbered options, the images represent examples of what is available. You will receive one crystal, selected from the group, with natural variation.

For ceramics:

  • All ceramic pieces are one of a kind. Unless otherwise stated, you will receive the exact piece shown in the listing photos.
