This large wheel-thrown stoneware bowl features sweeping sgraffito branches that arc across the interior surface, creating the feeling of looking upward through a tree canopy. The carved branches extend from the rim and reach inward, their delicate leaves spreading across a softly layered sky of blues, greens, and pale earth tones. The composition draws the eye toward the centre of the bowl where warm colours gather like sunlight filtering through the leaves.
The imagery reflects a quiet moment outdoors. As the artist describes, the piece is meant to evoke the feeling of lying in the grass beneath a tree, watching light pass through the branches while warmth touches your face.
