Description
This wheel-thrown stoneware mug features hand-carved sgraffito wildflowers that wrap around the surface like a small meadow in bloom. Tall stems, open petals, and layered leaves rise from the base of the mug, creating a gentle landscape that brings movement and life to the form. The flowers are finished in warm orange tones with soft green leaves, standing out against a creamy natural clay body.
A soft, layered glaze gathers near the rim in pale greens and subtle earthy tones, echoing the colours of spring growth. The glaze transitions naturally into the carved surface below, allowing the sgraffito lines and underglaze details to remain crisp while still feeling integrated into the clay.
The rounded form sits comfortably in the hand, with a balanced handle and a slightly curved body that enhances the organic character of the design. Each mug is individually carved and glazed, making every piece a small, functional artwork that celebrates the quiet beauty of wildflowers returning each spring.
