Description

This Grape Agate statement piece features densely packed, sparkly botryoidal formations in soft lavender to muted lilac tones, with subtle transitions into pale green along the base. The rounded, orb-like crystal growth creates a sculptural surface that feels almost architectural, with natural cavities and layered contours giving it depth from every angle. At 1.5 kg, it carries visual weight while maintaining an intricate, fine-textured surface.

Grape Agate first began appearing on the mineral market around 2016, sourced from the Mamuju region along the western coast of Sulawesi, Indonesia. While initially mistaken for a type of chalcedony or agate, further mineralogical analysis revealed it to be a form of botryoidal quartz, often displaying amethyst coloration. The name “Grape Agate” remains a trade name, one that endures because of its striking resemblance to clusters of grapes, now elevated by a subtle crystalline sparkle across the surface.

Formed through silica-rich solutions depositing microscopic quartz crystals in rounded aggregates, this material develops its signature botryoidal structure over time. Well-formed, fully intact pieces like this, especially those that display beautifully from multiple angles are increasingly sought after for their sculptural presence and completeness.

Grape Agate is often associated with intuition and inner calm. It is sometimes seen as a gentle companion for clarity of thought and emotional grounding—a quiet reminder to slow down and return inward.

Note

All crystals and ceramic works offered by Atelier Lithic are inherently unique. Variations in size, colour, surface texture, and form are natural and should be expected.

Crystals are natural materials formed in the earth and may include surface irregularities such as natural fissures, internal veils, growth marks, contact points from where the crystal was attached to the host rock, or areas where the specimen was mined or extracted. These features are part of the crystal’s natural formation and are not considered defects. Defects are disclosed within the item description.

For crystals:

  • When a listing includes numbered options (for example, 001, 002, etc.), each number corresponds to a specific crystal shown in the photos. Selecting a number means you will receive that exact crystal.
  • When a crystal is shown as a group or range and sold as a quantity of one without numbered options, the images represent examples of what is available. You will receive one crystal, selected from the group, with natural variation.

For ceramics:

  • All ceramic pieces are one of a kind. Unless otherwise stated, you will receive the exact piece shown in the listing photos.
